{"id":10602,"date":"2020-04-14T14:55:49","date_gmt":"2020-04-14T21:55:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.polutexni.com\/?p=10602"},"modified":"2020-04-18T09:31:44","modified_gmt":"2020-04-18T16:31:44","slug":"snow-whites-apples","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.polutexni.com\/?p=10602","title":{"rendered":"Snow White&#8217;s Apples"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"456\" src=\"http:\/\/www.polutexni.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Pommier_aux_fruits_rouges1902huile_sur_toile851_x_1187cm.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10603\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.polutexni.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Pommier_aux_fruits_rouges1902huile_sur_toile851_x_1187cm.jpg 640w, http:\/\/www.polutexni.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Pommier_aux_fruits_rouges1902huile_sur_toile851_x_1187cm-300x214.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><figcaption><em>Apple Tree with Red Fruit<\/em> by Paul Ranson<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Colleen Anderson<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\"> <font face=\"arial\">A bulimic knows\n there are two ways to consume\n one is not to eat at all\n the other, take the world&nbsp;\n into yourself sins, joys, pains\n the full sensory experience\n not grow fat on it but purge again&nbsp;\n and again... for balance, feel despair&nbsp;\n so that joy is all the richer\n when devoured guiltlessly again\n \n Starved for love or a word of praise\n Snow White sought out something to fulfill\n took the path of runaways, of precocity\n of survivors from broken homes\n not all girls who run endure or find peace\n she managed lodgings with men of splintery mien\n striving to be gentlemen all the same\n but good intentions and preordained destinies&nbsp;\n can still go astray\n \n In hunger to fill a need, hide her shame\n Snow White was tempted by an apple\n the oldest crop seeded in memory&nbsp;\n a blush of thought on the tree of life&nbsp;\n or abundant knowledge of good and evil\n she saw in the mirror, the roseate lie\n herself a hybrid queen filled with envy\n who tried to join the halves together\n obliterate the exposed bruised side\n \n Those apples had special weight\n ever since time began\n the first fruit a sweet tease leaving\n the bitter aftertaste from the core\n a weighty illicit craving, a dark desire\n for savoring a beginning neverending\n for going beyond safe borders\n \n How could she resist\n in the end her wish bloomed true\n the desire of all who seek eternity\n an apple poisoned with all of time\n Snow White bit and chewed and choked\n then fell into a suspended world\n that her predecessor had long known\n a goddess once, who may have dropped\n just as windfall apples do&nbsp;\n from the wind's lecherous touch\n \n Idunn of the golden apples won hard\n harvester\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s knowledge and full of power\n she never punished, only rewarded the gift\n that kept on giving, endless life, youth, beauty\n Gods grow bored when millennia pass\n Idunn and the Norse sailed onto other realms\n leaving a distillation, an elixir\n a breath of remembering in the apples of Midgard\n \n Fairy tales are the memories of gods long gone\n wishes of mortals for what can never be\n Snow White frozen in her world of in-between&nbsp;\n received the eternal gift but not as it once had been\n She was stuck between the realms\n neither dead nor alive, preserved for all time\n until the day some random prince\n heimliched her back to life\n \n She has spent an eternity sandwiched\n into film and print, but wanting neither\n immortalized yet seeking always seeking\n an apple that will give her a taste&nbsp;\n of a love that\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s not foreseen\n that destiny cannot touch, something natural\n that happens on a whim\n like apples falling from a tree <\/font face=\"arial\"><\/pre>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Colleen Anderson A bulimic knows there are two ways to consume one is not to eat at all the other, take the world&nbsp;
