I wondered\u00e2\u20ac\u201d<br \/>\nPornographic centerfolds of the Dead?<br \/>\nThe lost piece of petrified wood<br \/>\nOnce mounted in my grandfather\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s favorite ring?<\/p>\n<p>It was neither of these things,<br \/>\nThough, in a sense, all and more<br \/>\nAnd it wasn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t for my eyes<br \/>\nAt least not these organic ones<br \/>\nWhich perceive in the usual spectrum\u00e2\u20ac\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Not for these mortal eyes of mine.<\/p>\n<p>She came to me again<br \/>\nOnce I was robotic, a cyborg,<br \/>\nStill possessing a human mind<br \/>\nAnd tattered strips of flesh<br \/>\nHere and there<br \/>\nWith eyes of glass like a camera\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s lens;<br \/>\nAnd only then did lovely Death<br \/>\nReveal her final offering:<\/p>\n<p>A jittering map of sorts,<br \/>\nGlowing and pulsing with infras and ultras,<br \/>\nDreamlike, nightmarish;<br \/>\nShe showed me a blueprint of my soul\u00e2\u20ac\u201d<br \/>\nDemented dreams concealed inside<br \/>\nErasures of memories long denied<\/p>\n<p>So many revelations I did not wish to know.<br \/>\nBroken pathways of indecisions,<br \/>\nLies and secrets best not told\u00e2\u20ac\u201d<br \/>\nInept choices, foolish revisions<br \/>\nDelineated lines of neural flow\u00e2\u20ac\u201d<br \/>\nNor could I overcome<br \/>\nThe horrorshow<\/p>\n<p>And then Death said<br \/>\nShe had no regard<br \/>\nFor me, whatsoever<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Death said she had something to show me; What?
