A cruiser goes by
\non licorice tires,
\ngoes by the boys<\/p>\n

smoking their marshmallow
\ncigarettes
\nin the doorway
\npop bottle pop rocket in one hand<\/p>\n

the other hand gathering
\nscoops of soft sticky cloud
\nburning smell
\nas it rises from their mouths.<\/p>\n

Your shadow meets
\nyour feet
\nlike you’re standing in a hole
\nlike you’re stuck and sinking
\ninto the suck and stink
\nof the asphalt
\nmolasses<\/p>\n

and all the girls go by
\nflashes of pink and sweet
\nin their dresses like spun sugar
\nthat you could just lick
\noff their bodies.
\nAll the girls go by the boys<\/p>\n

they’re upstairs in the club
\nand we’re not
\nbut that’s okay cause those
\nslick silk dresses will just melt
\noff them
\nsweated away if the beat
\nis hard enough.<\/p>\n

The sweet life<\/p>\n

it’ll rot all the teeth
\nright out of your grin<\/p>\n

leave your skeleton
\npetrified into sugar cane,
\nyour skull a day of the dead
\ntreat for the living to gnaw on,
\nthirsty and desperate for the
\nsour chew center.<\/p>\n
