{"id":1676,"date":"2018-04-02T08:53:52","date_gmt":"2018-04-02T15:53:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.polutexni.com\/?p=1676"},"modified":"2018-04-07T14:21:34","modified_gmt":"2018-04-07T21:21:34","slug":"1676","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.polutexni.com\/?p=1676","title":{"rendered":"The Transfer Station by Kurt Newton"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1679\" src=\"http:\/\/www.polutexni.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/630px-Arshile_gorky_il_fegato_\u00c3\u00a8_il_pettine_del_gallo_1944-300x229.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"229\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Some call it the Nexus,<br \/>\nothers call it the Void,<br \/>\nbut for us it&#8217;s simply the Transfer Station.<br \/>\nIt&#8217;s the one place in the Universe<br \/>\nwhere all the garbage gathers,<br \/>\nthe light and the dark,<br \/>\nthe material and immaterial,<br \/>\nthe cast off and the cast out,<br \/>\nthe aimless bits of solar wind-blown debris<br \/>\nand lost souls hoping to catch a glimpse<br \/>\nof the infinite, before the refrigerator door closes<br \/>\nand the light goes out.<\/p>\n<p>But just because the light goes out<br \/>\ndoesn&#8217;t mean one ceases to exist\u00e2\u20ac\u201dto the contrary.<br \/>\nThe Transfer Station takes matter,<br \/>\nwhether it matters or not,<br \/>\nand transforms it into something new:<br \/>\na planet, a star, an automobile.<br \/>\nThere&#8217;s no rhyme or reason,<br \/>\nonly the perpetuation of what was<br \/>\ninto what will become.<br \/>\nA galaxy, a refrigerator, an infant child\u00e2\u20ac\u201d<br \/>\nthe list goes on, both past and future.<br \/>\nNo one can possibly know the outcome<br \/>\nof such a random afterthought.<\/p>\n<p>But you can&#8217;t accept that can you?<br \/>\nOf all creations you are the only ones<br \/>\nwho question your station in life.<br \/>\nBut then maybe that is your gift,<br \/>\nand why you will continue to wash up<br \/>\non our cluttered shore,<br \/>\nbruised and battered yet not defeated,<br \/>\nresisting the inevitable<br \/>\neven when you know the inevitable must be;<br \/>\nclinging the way a dying star shakes its fists,<br \/>\ndisplaying the brilliance of its anger<br \/>\nacross the blackboard of the cosmos.<\/p>\n<p>But judge not the intent or purpose<br \/>\nlest we be judged on the purpose of our intent.<br \/>\nDon&#8217;t bother looking that one up,<br \/>\nyou won&#8217;t find it.<br \/>\nJust know that we here at the Transfer Station,<br \/>\nwhere nothing is ever wasted<br \/>\nand nothing ever is a waste,<br \/>\ntake a special pleasure in taking you in<br \/>\nand turning you out,<br \/>\nmaking your transition<br \/>\nas meaningful as possible,<br \/>\nknowing you will never admire us<br \/>\nthe way we have come to admire you.<\/p>\n<h6 class=\"firstHeading\" lang=\"en\">Illustration is il fegato \u00c3\u00a8 il pettine del gallo by\u00c2\u00a0Arshile Gorky, 1944 in the Albright-Knox Gallery.<\/h6>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Some call it the Nexus, others call it the Void, but for us it&#8217;s simply the Transfer Station.
